5th Art & Culture Week Gilching 2019 with Pixelstick light painting, Black Box installation and live portraits with instant printing.
We discover new countries through a virtual travel book. Did you know there are nearly 200 countries in the world? It would take rather a long time to visit them all. To get to know them from afar, we might read books, watch films or research online. But perhaps there is another way: asking people from those countries about their culture. How many people from different nations live here in Gilching? We should like to answer that question and offer a world tour through all their homelands. How do we manage it? Stand before a virtual travel book, presented as an art installation in the town hall. You'll also receive a free souvenir print, produced instantly on the spot. The images are not distributed digitally.

The photographs were compiled as templates for the Pixelstick. The LED strip was extended from 2 to 4 metres, generating the image using approximately 400 LEDs. This produced a hologram, enabling visitors to position themselves within a simulated environment.
During the Children's and Youth Culture Day, guests were offered the opportunity to have portrait photographs taken. Various backgrounds were available. The exposure time was 6 seconds at ISO 400 f/4. Following the shot, participants received an instant print.
