Michael Campos Viola

Michael Campos Viola works as a photographer and filmmaker in cultural and social contexts. His work is characterised by the connection of photographic processes with filmic and documentary formats.

After early work in concert and event photography, his focus shifted to independent and commissioned projects with design and conceptual responsibility. Since 2020 he has increasingly produced film work with cultural and social focus.

His professional perspective is not one-dimensional: alongside his photographic and film work, he has a professional background outside media practice that shapes his view of spaces, landscapes and social processes. This multi-layered perspective informs his media work, as does his experience in voluntary and institutional contexts.

Today Michael Campos Viola works on long-term projects in institutional and municipal contexts. In parallel he is preparing the establishment of a non-profit media organisation that makes art, culture, education and civic engagement visible through media work.
