Lightpainting with Pixelstick at the Denkmalsommer in the Alte Münze. 50th anniversary of monument preservation in Bavaria.
During the Denkmalsommer in Bavaria, lightpainting was presented to celebrate the 50th anniversary of monument preservation. The opening event at the Alte Münze in Munich was a popular meeting point for history enthusiasts. On 1 July 2023, many guests visited the historic building in good weather and experienced several surprises, including the Portrait Live Pixelstick Lightpainting organized by our team.
We celebrated the anniversary of monument preservation in Bavaria in an original way, lightpainting with a pixelstick. Imagine what it would be like without monument preservation, relying only on images and holograms to show buildings. We lit the Alte Münze at night and photographed it in 79 individual exposures. These photos were assembled into a template that we programmed into the pixelstick. To create the image with around 400 LEDs, we extended the LED bar from 2 to 4 meters. We created a hologram in which guests could stand to experience an artificial world.
To make the hologram more interesting, we gave it an artistic touch in four colors. We know that protected monuments must not be altered. This conflict was deliberately provoked by us to show what would happen if...
The photos were not only provided as prints in the 20 × 15 cm format but also transferred digitally to the appropriate device. The different image formats for the respective social media platforms had to be considered.
On the opening day, guests had the opportunity to be portrayed live. Four different backgrounds were available. The photo exposure took 6 seconds at ISO 400 T/4. Afterwards they received the image in digital form as well as an instant print to take home.
Note: All images shown here are OOC shots (out of camera), i.e., unedited photos.
We were very happy to create a special photo concept for the Denkmalsommer in the Alte Münze and to share our passion for photography with the guests. We would like to thank the Alte Münze team for supporting us. A special thanks goes to Julia Steinbach, who made it possible to realize all artistic ideas.
